Koa Elementary in Osceola County Named
2014 National Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School
Koa Elementary School has been named
as a 2014 National Blue Ribbon Lighthouse School by Blue Ribbon Schools
of Excellence, Inc. Based on the Blueprint for Excellence assessment
process, Koa Elementary met or exceeded the criteria for all nine
categories: Student Support and Focus; School Organization and Culture;
Challenging Standards and Curriculum; Active Teaching and Learning;
Technology Integration; Professional Community; Leadership and
Educational Vitality; School, Family, and Community Partnerships; and
Indicators of Success. This prestigious recognition recognizes Principal
Virginia Scott and her dedicated team of educators and professional
support staff for working so diligently to fulfill the many learning
needs of students.

will be including best practices from Koa Elementary in its Interactive
Library of Best Practices database, as well as highlighting the school
and teachers on its website at Blue Ribbon Schools. Through these initiatives, information from America’s best schools will be shared with schools all around the country.
Principal Scott was presented the award at a ceremony during the banquet
at the Blue Ribbon School Blueprint for Excellence National Conference
at Disney’s Contemporary Resort Hotel on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
