Students can access the online card catalog, Destiny, at school and at home. Students can search for books, ebooks and safe educational websites for school-related research projects and/or leisure reading. Students can also access the subscription online databases within Destiny such as Discovery Education, Safari Montage and Britannica School.

The Media Center is in full operation during the school day. A certified Educational Media Specialist teaches students literature appreciation, information literacy skills and internet safety. Kindergarten students receive instruction in literature appreciation and book care. All students are encouraged to use the Media Center for reading, book selection, research and curiosity.
Media Center rules are reviewed several times during the year so that students are reminded of their responsibility as library citizens.
-Take care of all Media Center materials (books, Playaways, computers, netbooks, iPads, etc.)
-Use shelf markers properly so that all books can be found easily.
-Be respectful and speak quietly when a class is using the Media Center.
-Walk, don't run.
-Always bring your school ID for easy check-out.
-Borrow 1 to 2 books at time and 1 Playaway at a time.
-Return books on time - 14 days.
-Overdue notices will first be sent to the classroom teacher and then home to parents.
-If a book/playaway is damaged, please return to the Media Center for repair. If the book cannot be repaired, a fine will be issued. One warning a year is given to each student before a fine is issued.
-If a book is lost, please replace the exact book/title (hardcover only) or pay for the book. Cash and checks are accepted. Please make checks payable to Koa Elementary School.
-Check for clean hands.
-Turn pages slowly and in the upper right hand corner.
-Use a bookmark to save your place.
-Keep books in a safe place at home.
-Keep books away from pets and smaller children.
-Never eat or drink while reading.
-Never write or draw in a library book.
