Media Center Policies
Library Citizens
Media Center rules are reviewed several times during the year so that students are reminded of their responsibility as library citizens.

- Take care of all Media Center materials (books, Playaways, computers, iPads, etc.)
- Use shelf markers properly so that all books can be found easily.
- Be respectful and speak quietly when a class is using the Media Center.
- Walk, don't run.

Book/Playaway Circulation
- Always bring your school ID for easy check-out.
- Kindergarten students may borrow 1 item. Grades 1-5 may borrow 2 items.
- Return books on time; you have 14 days.
- Overdue notices will first be sent to the classroom teacher and then home to parents.

Lost/Damaged Books/Playaways
- If a book/playaway is damaged, please return to the Media Center for repair. If the book cannot be repaired, a fine will be issued. One warning a year is given to each student before a fine is issued.
- If a book is lost, please replace the exact book/title (hardcover only) or pay for the book. Cash and checks are accepted. Please make checks payable to Koa Elementary School.

Book Care
- Check for clean hands.
- Turn pages slowly and in the upper right hand corner.
- Use a bookmark to save your place.
- Keep books in a safe place at home.
- Keep books away from pets and smaller children.
- Never eat or drink while reading.
- Never write or draw in a library book.
