What is the purpose of Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)?
The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) initiative is the only federally funded program dedicated exclusively to out-of-school-time learning. The program supports students in meeting rigorous state academic standards by providing high-quality academic support and enrichment opportunities that align with state and school goals. Activities are designed to complement the school-day curriculum, strengthen student achievement, and support the individual learning needs of participating students. In addition, 21st CCLC programs promote meaningful family engagement by providing opportunities for adult family members to become active partners in their children’s academic success and overall development.
